XS1100RH fuel sender fail

Hi all,

Haven't been by for a while...ok, like forever...

Anyway, one of the minor issues I've been putting up with for a while has been my fuel light has stopped working. It always used to come on very reliably a km or two before I needed to switch to reserve, but a few months ago just didn't work one day and never has since.

Finally, last weekend I pulled the tank off, removed the sender and did some trouble shooting with it out of the tank, but connected to the bike's wiring. I have worked out it is definitely the little capacitance capsule thingo that is not working. There is 12v right up to it and if I jump to earth from there, the light in the speedo glows happily. I tried a bit of a soak with degreaser and a little air blown through the bleed holes, but no joy.

Has anyone ever had a fuel low light sender fail and either a) found a way to wake it up, b) found a readily available substitute for the capsule or b) bought a new unit (if so how much was it?)

Stout
