Glad to see you make it over to this site Orange4. These guys are awesome and have some very different views than what we are used to as well as ours are different from theirs. Best thing you will see here is a complete lack of superiority complex, just truthful discussions about our good old 1100's
78E, 79SF currently running and road ready.

The price for that fairing made me swear in German and that's not pretty.

Interesting to say the least. Surprised someone is not making a repro... yet.

Thanks for the info on the bits. I'll do some thinking. I'm not a fan of the US peg position. I often ride with my feet on the pillion pegs and that ain't right.

Never noticed the fine detail before.  Thanks Ev.

I fitted a Special exhaust to a standard for a brief while.  It would have bolted straight on except the standard hangers got in the way and needed to be turned up to allow the mufflers to fit. It still worked but looked wierd.

So apologies O4  for the shit buzz on the 5k7 fitment. Disregard my last

Back to the drawing board.

If the US ally hangers are the same as the Oceania and European hangers then all you will need is:

The side cover for the gear selector,
the gear shift lever complete,
foot pegs, and
a rear brake pedal.(I believe the US one is longer)??????

I think I've got it correct this time????Maybe.

Ummm, Eddy?
He won't be able to use either the ally hangers or the MNS exhaust system on his bike unless he has a Special that he wants to modify.
The bolt holes in the Sport hangers are in the wrong place for them to be a bolt on fitment on his Standard and from having a quick look at the backside of them, it'll be a fair bit of mucking around to make them fit as the thickness changes in different areas.
Another minor detail with the fitment of a MNS / Special / 5N5 / 5K7 OEM exhaust system is that a matching centre stand will have to be used as the footpedal loop has a larger radius curve in it to clear the fatter muffler section of the shorter exhaust.

Marcus, the factory Bikini fairings are rare as rocking horse shit even over here, as a lot of them were removed by previous owners who thought they looked a bit odd, compared to the more rounded type of fairings that were available back in the day.

Here's a link to one that came up on Ebay Germany a while ago - CLICK

Hey Orange4,

Welcome.  That's a nice clean XS11 you have there.

Your parts list is correct,  I'm banking that you don't need the aluminium hangers as the MNS hangers should fit your needs.

The problem then arises where the original "standard exhaust system will now not bolt straight on as the hangers sweep up compared to more parallel to the deck of the standard, a black MNS original exhaust will then bolt straight on.

These parts are much more accessible to you over there than here in OZ.

To make yours look like an RH (S) Sport 5K7 model you can use the original black exhaust from a MNS

Footpegs are here

Hangers are here:

Brake pedal is here:

That's if you want the black 5k7 euro type

If you want to retain the original standard look (chrome)

shifter here

It would take a bit of time but we can search around here in Oz and get most of the bits you are after.  Shipping may be a bit hexy, but what price do you put on the look you want???????

I probably have some of the bits at home in boxes if you're interested.

Good luck

Eddy

Holy crap! Literally. I see you are handy with a drill press!

Also a nice looking bike.  I'm starting to really want to build an S or 1.1 or Aussie special replica. Except for the inconveniences. How much do those bikini fairings go for?

BTW, My family almost emigrated to the Auz in 82. We were actually approved but my father decided against it at the last minute. Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been different. I would give a lot to have been around for the racing scene in the 80's.

Mate, I wish I could say that's my bike, but no such luck. It belongs to one of our members Phil (EXS1.1).
This is my SF in Sport mode (it has a multitude of guises, from fully faired dresser, down to bare bones naked)

Regarding your list, I'm not certain that you actually need new alloy footpeg hangers. I think that the main difference is in the cast footpeg bracket itself. Hopefully, someone can chime in to verify that for us.

That's what I'm talking about! Fantastic bike BTW. Is that your baby?

I was wondering if the S style ones would fit because they are further rear set that the standard style ones, so thanks for the heads up. Now I know what I need and yes, the postage might be a bit daunting. Another thing is that it seems like all the shift side engine covers are black. Did they make any in the yankee style polished? I could polish one up if need be.

Is my parts list correct?
Set back pegs. (cast iron style.)
Aluminium brackets.
Shift side cover with lever mount.
Main and stubby lever and linkage
Stubby brake lever.

Hi Marcus, and welcome aboard!
When you say your looking for 1100S footpeg setup, you are meaning the euro style peg mounts and gear linkage for a Standard, as the Sport footpeg brackets won't fit on your Standard.

Perhaps something like this.....

Just so you know, all the Australian spec XS1100 Standards had this "Euro" type of footpeg mounts and gear linkages so they're readily available here, though postage costs might sting a bit. (at the moment, the AU dollar and the Canadian dollar are near parity, if that helps)

Thank you very much. I'm proud of her. Just got collector's insurance so she's a cheap date as well!

Still enjoying the DVDs you sent me. Wish I could come ride with you folks but my xs1100 amphibious hydroplane conversion isn't finished yet.
