In the past I found on other 4's (gs and gsx's) that 4 - 2 gives a better note, better torque and mid range. 4-1 I was able to normally get more hp out of. Naturally this all depended on length of chambers and pressures each way but that is how it usually turned out... Happy for people to disagree:)

Hey Steveh,

Depends on what you're after? and how you ride?

For my riding style (cruising) my preference is the 4 - 2. The're more quiet and if you have an original system I believe they are much smoother through the rev range.

I have had a 4 - 1 pipes over the years and while they give me a better down low and mid range I have always swapped back to the original.

Original systemas are few and far between.  They are still available (used) and very cheap from the US but that is IF the seller will ship them to Australia.  I recently bought an original system for my RH (Black Chrome) for US$300 with $200 shipping.  they were almost like new.  They replaced a 4-1 pipeline system.  The difference was immediately noticable, and I don't sound like a 18yo street racer anymore (bonus really)

There are a few of the after market MAC 4-2 systems available from members on this forum.

Or Xtian has just bought the SS 4-2 system from Germany for around AU$2K ???? shipped.

Let us know what you come up with?

I may be able to contact the seller of my last system (a wrecker)and he may be willing to get systems over there and ship them here quite reasonably?

Hope this helps Eddy

Is one better than the other?
Best,  4 into 2 or 4 into 1 ?
