hi all   the continental  attack series  tyres  are made for the older heavier sports super sports bikes
i've got  a matched set on the slabby and  they're the bestous tyre i;ve ever  ridden on
long life span   comfy ride and grippy it took nearly 900  k;s to burn the nipples off the road face

foot note  for shinko's   i've run these on the slabby too,  never had a drama with them wet or dry  and they were pushed  hard
theres 3 different componds to choose from
former xs  owner  but still has an itch

Took the new Avon 130/80 back tyre back and got new front and rear Metzler Marathons.  I had done about 100 K on the Avon so they weren't happy. Parted with an extra $40 bucks over the cost of the Avon against the Metzler and he was happy.

I reckon the lower profile one would have been OK but I needed a new front and wanted a matching set

Ay scarfey,
Did you reject the 130/80 tyre?
I just found out this arvo that the tyres I ordered for my bike are here and one of ém is a 130/80.
I'm gunna go with them as I don't fancy a high speed blow out on the way to bourke on the old tyres that have been on mine since at least 1998.

EDIT:
just an after thought...probly be a tad heavier to get on the center stand too

The 130/80/17 tyre equates to.....20 more revolutions per km than if you had a 130/90/17. :o

The load index rating allows 290kg on the 80" and 315kg on the 90".

what Steptoe said, and it'll rev a bit more than it used to for a given speed, you just lost 13mm in tyre height or 26 mm off the total diameter at the back wheel. you'll have to bring the forks up through the triple tree so it doesn't look like its squatted down in the arse...not the sporty café look you were after, and you'll get scraped foot peg bragging rites now that its lower too :P

for a rear tyre , that will fit excellently on the front,,,,, you want a 130 90 17 for the rear

the  100 is the tyre tread width,, the 80 the hieght of the wall,, is 80% of the width  of the tyre,, and of course the 19 is the
wheel

the only difference is  % of that,, it might have the slightest variance at the speedo

I bought a new Avon Road Rider for the Rear the other day. I noticed later that it was an 130/80 17 instead of a 130/90 like I usually have.

Anyone had any experience of this

kind of on the same vien, distance and life out of tyres,,
was at my "man's" shop on the w/end for another matter, a fella rolls in on a GSX11, a bit rattly and a bit ruff, he's after a tyre that he can get some life out of,,

fair enough I thought to myself,, so I mentioned maybe an avon,, then asked him what sort of life he wanted,,,  anything over 800 klm  :o :o, now I know why it rattled,, fair dinkum :-X
