hi general  ive seen a simple mod for reverse for an out fit on  the us forum its simple
uses astarter motor  a polyurathane wheel  and a lever

the poly  wheel goes on the  starter motor  where you mount it up is the tricky bit   you  may need a to run another battery  the starter motor with poly wheel  mounts on the swing arm  and is moved into action with the lever  to contact the tyre  tread face or side wall optional  and a switch to control the power
former xs  owner  but still has an itch

My sidecar has disc brakes that operate with the rear wheel brake, making ring gear a little tedious. Any pics of examples?

The caravan mover seems a little bulky to fit amongst the sidecar subframe and bike .
The next most mentioned way is to use an automotive starter to engage on a ring gear setup on the sidecar wheel .
Probably a lot neater once installed as well.
Either way will work .......the finer details/cost and ease of installation will be a factor of your choosing.
Good luck.

Ummmm...I think I might have put this originally in the wrong thread (apologies) so here`s a copy pasted....

My wife is Visually impaired, so I reckon I`ll need some method for a simple reverse gear setup for my recently acquired XS1100 outfit. Thinking of modifying a caravan mover to be a bit quicker (increase wheel diameter?), then mounting it between Bike & chair so that a simple leveraging mount will work by continuing to hold it against the bitumen, so that it pushes (not pulls). Then a simple push down to clip it back for stand by ...Hope that describes what I mean, but I bet there`s better ideas from more experienced guys here. Cheers, Doug
