Yeah I'm sure that's right Jeff. Having said that a colour match off an eom part is good enough for me!!!:)

Raf........i think Steptoe is talking about a breakdown of color matches and the subsequent codes  other people have done from NOS parts.
I m fairly certain there are no paint codes available from the original paint schemes by the manufacturer. :(
Happy to be wrong on that tho as there have been many other inquiries over the years .

Macho maroon. What a great name... Although bucking the trend I tend to think it looks more like 'lipstick red'. Don't suppose that'll catch on.

What other stock colour choices were there? (Please say black... Please say black haha)
Thanks steptoe:) I figured someone would know the codes

it would have to be macho  :) red,, even my special is as close as I could get at the time to the red with the gold decals,
the search engine people {Ive no idea how to work them efficiently} can even put up the thread where the actual codes and numbers for making the original colour are hidden in this little wealth of knowledge of ours

Hey Raf......your reaching out to a point that favours the individual taste .......however on the subject you ve raised here s my 2 cents worth.
Re the engine....you presently have what seems to be gloss black ........general consensus and keeping original as you ve mentioned in previous posts regarding the restoration.......this should be "Satin Black". It is a product you can pick up in a spray can under the brand name "VHT".
It s a long lasting job if the surface is properly cleaned and prepared and is cheaper and easier to touch up if need be than the 2 pac option.
On the subject of the tank, side covers etc.......nothing else other than "Macho Maroon"...........it ain t called that for nothing . ;) ;D ;D
Matched with the gold and black decals.
Your bike , presently , in the photos you ve shown ...seems to be a few shades darker than the original "Macho " scheme .
There aren t any paint codes available for any schemes present "in the day" as they were nt being used back then.
Any reference to an original colour would have to be done via paint matching from an original NOS part .
Your own choice will be the best one........as that's what matters.

This bike is from Germany. Can anyone tell me if this colour was original? It looks great and normally I'd go straight black but I could be swayed in this direction hehe

Yes a paint job is probably the next thing on the list. Anyone else have their favourite they want to share?
