A big thanks to Eddy for the fuse box
Its wired up and so far the bike (581) is working as it should on a quick 10kay test run.
Not the prettiest but I'll hide the plumbing later......now fingers crossed it'll get me to Phillip Island and back.
A mate of mine is coming over from the UK and he's going to be riding 594

Thanks Errol
looks like a good job to do while I'm plumbing in a new fuse box.

Hey, Paul. Have a look at #12 in the maintenance section of Brian's list - CLICKETY CLICK
That'll keep you going for a while, mate.

Oops, sorry Pete. I must have posted while you were posting.

lol that's good,
I hate trying to diagnose electrical problems on the net,
go thru all your connections to see if any plugs or wires are loose or have
corrosion on them.
then have the bike running and recheck connections again,
by giving them a wiggle to see if the bike will cut out.

I did the checks and got 12volts everywhere I checked?
The problem is the bike is now Ok with the bridge wire removed, how frustrating is that?
I'm wondering If I jiggled something back to life when I was moving wires aside at the TCI to get the meter probe in?
I'll be putting a new fuse box in soon as this one is very dodgy. possibly the gremlin is in there?
electricity aargh!

lol
set the multi meter to 20v
put the (black lead) neg on the frame/earth or neg battery
and (red lead) pos on the red/white wire with the ignition on
but without the jump wire u put in place and let us know how u go.

Thanks Pete
I've got a multi meter that I'm not qualified to use. the only feature of the meter I'm confident with is the one that beeps to tell me a wire has continuity.
so should I turn the key on for these tests or leave it off?
Do I put one of the probes on the red/white wire and the other probe on earth? or each end of the R/W wire?

I don't think you've bypassed anything as such,
maybe just given it power from one wire to the other,
have u got a test light?
try the test light on one of the wires to see which one has the power,
if theyre both red/white wires, they should both have power and both
from memory go to the pos side of the coils.

This is part 2 of the McGyver run
When I put a bridging wire between 2 plugs in the harness to get running again I thought I'd bypassed the kill switch, but the kill switch still works as designed.
The pic below shows what I did to get it going. picked up the red/yellow wire from the plug with 3 wires   and one of the red/white wires from the other plug with 4 wires. both these plugs come from the RH s/w block. this is the first combination I tried on the side of the road and by pure luck it worked.

If any one with some electrical know how (Jeff?) or others has a circuit diagram, the pictures below show schematic and 2 pencilled in scenarios of what I might have hotwired. One of the red/white wires goes to fuse box and the other R/W wire goes to black box on the mudguard.

And finally, the question.........what have I bypassed to make it work?
