Got it. Used a jack and a whole lot of swearing prying etc, but she is all nestled in now and all the bolts are through the mounts. Thanks for the input guys.

I can get it to go in with the spacer removed. Once I place the spacer it will not go in. The front mounts I have the bolts in are the bottom ones and I have even tried to shove a couple of slim screwdrivers in the for more movement. The top front mounts are not even in the area as they are hanging from a rack right now.
I wish i knew how to go about measuring the distance between the rubber isolators when it is in place. The fact that one of the mounts is inside the mount tube is hard to deal with. I will win it is just a matter of time.

I, m kind of with Jonesy and  Pete on this job  ::)but will go a touch further,
The mounts are already inside the frame so that, s not the prob,,  :) won, t need to spread the frame

I, m betting it will be the front mount to frame brackets, not that they are tight or any such thing,, more likely upside down

hey ras,
im with jonesy, if u have the front mounts in, u mite be better
off to take the bolts out and rock the motor maybe lifting up the front
so the back can drop in, ive done a few over the years and it can be
a bugger at the best of times, especially if ur doing it by yourself.

Its a difficult one to diagnose without being there to observe first hand..........you may have answered the question about spreading the damn frame. has this motor and frame been together before? or is it a mix n match of other bikes?. sorry for stating stating the obvious but it looks like you've got the mounts started and it should drop in........have you tried spreading the frame? looks like a wooden broom handle strategically place as pry bar should be enough to spread it

try taking the other mounts out and putting this one in first. the motor might be hanging up on the front set of mounts which is another complete can of worms if this is the case.

Anybody have any suggestions for this? I put the engine in place by myself and had no damage. Now I have wrecked my paint etc because I can not get the rear mounts to drop down into place. Is there a clocking to the mounts that I am not using or any other things you guys may notice stopping it from dropping into place. The front two mounts will accept the bolts, but I can not get the rear mount to go in. I have used 4 different rubber isolators and two different spacers but am having no luck at all.
Guess I should have asked before wrecking stuff but the paint can be repaired. The U-joint is free and clear so it is not an issue. Hopefully you guys can help correct what I am doing wrong.
The rear mounts look like this right now, but with your help will have a bolt through them soon...lol.

Just makes me sick looking at the damage I have done but after 4 hours of trying I am ready to get out the torch and spread the damn frame.
