Hey raspy
try taking the photo standing slightly to one side so you dont get flash reflecting back at your camera, try in a room with the curtains pulled so it dont reflect other things too

I  can take the best pic I know how to but you have already seen it! The cover of the pic is a plastic overlay which reflects a lot. My camera is not the greatest and I just learned to not take pictures that looked like I took them while I was running! The original is a high gloss picture, so I need some tips on how to achieve it. Any help out there? I will try my best.

I also have one of those posters. I have no idea where to go to get a high resolution photo of what I have here. Any suggestions on what I am looking for may help me get one for the forum. The poster is 33 inches wide and 48 inches long just so you know. I can do it on the colour and the black and white part if I only know how to go about it. Any suggestions would help me.

G'day

I have one of the afore mentioned posters.  My brother works at Office Works so I will get him to have a look and see if it can be copied successfully.

Cheers Paul

Brett, not gospel but i'd say the reasoning behind the double waaled header pipes is for the inside layer to take the brunt of the exhaust gases heat, and the outer wall to look pretty for a lot more years than they would without the inners.

Just thinking that it would be really handy if either of the gents who have one of those cutaway posters as referred to in the other thread, to get a hi-res scan done of that muffler section. I have the original fles that Tink sent me sitting on a hard drive about 2 computers ago, so they may take some finding. Stiil wouldn't be as clear as a good scan of a large poster, though.

Another thing that will affect demand is the fact that practically no aftermarket system can be fitted to one of these 11's and let the motor run as effectively and smoothly as the original systems, unlike the Kaws and Suzukis etc which all seem to benefit from getting a 4-1 fitted and go like the clappers, especially in top end power.
Mine, I can't talk enough about its tractability which lets me loaf about in probably 2 gears too high for the speed traversed, but not haveing ridden my bike with an aftermarket system, am only qualified to say how it runs as is,  but I'd say Jonesey would be best endowed for a refence, having just recently refitted an original system to his bike which as purchased wore a 4-1. There were quite a few superlatives from him floating around the site just after swapping over to the OEM system.

I have a saying in the metal industry, we can do anything but how deep are your pockets.
Here is a look at the pictures most of you I am sure have seen.

CLICK

I wonder if understanding how all this works in creating the power down low would be a better direction to head than trying to copy it in every detail and then be scratching your head wondering why if it does not give the same results when copied.
It could be a much more economical way to find a muffler that is very similar and will do the same job and then re-fabricate the pipes. Does anyone know what the double wall header pipes purpose is and if any other bikes have this?
Not sure I could re-create that and be confident that it didn't make rattly noises. It is very possible that the pipe sizes used for that where a special order and using just slightly different will alter the effect.
Don't mean to be a downer on the project, these are just some of my thoughts

Not so much difficult but initially a bit of $$$$$$

The more people want them the cheaper they will become.
Remember if this is done it is not a money making exercise as such, it is to keep these machines going as they were intended.....forever.

It was stated that replicating the original would be very dificult.

G,day Brett
a bloke like yourself that fabricates and welds for a living could probably appreciate
that would ptobably mean time consuming and expensive. more so than hard to do.

with an old exhaust to pull apart to see how it goes together a very true to original copy can be made, I think they call it reverse engineering or something like that

The price ($1700) for the actual items is about what I'd expect. Even domestic freight here in Oz will be exxy

Or.... you could make an event out of it by riding to "Christian & Mals XS 11 exhaust emporium" to have them fitted
