Thanks for that  :D

I'll ring MTM soon and get/ check to see if they have some in stock.
Have their web page bookmarked  http://mtmmc.com.au/index.html

I can get the new refurbished front wheel fitted there and pick up a back tyre, to bring back home, for latter.

Cheers

Like you said, Ken. It's all down to presonal preference. When I bought my old girl, it had a new set of Duro's on it which felt ok for about 10,000 k's then went south pretty quickly.
I got a pair of Bridgestone Spitfire 11R'S fitted and got 20,000 k's out of them before replacement was due. I was really impressed with the grip, both wet and dry, plus they give quite an audible warning when they're getting loaded up while cornering. (Yes, they howl, but not a bad thing - You know they're working)
When my new wife started coming along with me, wear changed to about 15 rear, 19 front and stayed the same with the addition of the keg.
Currently logged over 260,000 k's with these tyres on my 11 and have no inclination to want to change brands. I haven't had any flats (touch wood) and have really been a great all round tyre for me. Whether playing in the twisties, or doing endurance runs outback, they've never let me down.
Pricewise, I don't know if I was getting a sweetheart deal cos of my position in the Ulysses Club at the time, but I was getting the tyres for $200 a pair fitted and balanced from MTM motorcycles at Geebung, Brisbane, though I've moved north now and they're a bit dearer up here.
Might be worth a phone call, though. Ask for Peter and tell 'em Errol sent ya!

BTW, Pressures I run are 28 front, 40 rear. That suits the weight of the bike best, I feel.

Same situation here ken...was 20 years ago i bought tyres for my xs........ .i used both the avon roadrunners as well as the pirelli phantoms......the general concensus i reached was ,  not a lot has changed on the characteristics of both..they are both great tyres for our bike and their equivalents today perform much the same. The Avons have great a reputation for long mileage and good grip . The pirellis not as long lasting as the avons but better grip.I eventually decided on the pirelli Sport Demons (gotta love that name for a start) and all i can say is..........WOW.........the bike handles corners like it s on rails........and the ride comfort was so much better , i am very impressed with these.Price was around $149 front and $176 rear from Peter Stevens. I found you have to order in what you want and most manufactures have something still available in sizes to fit our oldies.Tyre pressures are critical for good handling .

Well it's time I have to ask the question, what tyres you run on the bike ?

It's a bad question to ask on a forum, esp when every body have their own ideas.
Last time I bought a set for the XS was 30+ years ago when Avon Roadrunners were the big hit.
I don't think the bike shops here in Toowoomba would carry any stock of our sizes, or would they ??

Where in SE Qld do you get them ??
Two Wheel Tyres at Blacksoil ??
Price to expect ??

Cheers
