Here s the easiest option i see...........purchase a wiring loom that is compatible with 2H9 models and our switch gear.
Either from..the UK...........Germany......Canada.....even South Africa .
Much less of a headache for you. :)
Heres a wiring loom connector kit..from the UK...if you choose the repair option.

Wiring Loom???

Here is the problem I have:
1978E wiring loom had wires and plugs missing from the headlight and instruments. Had a backup loom from a 1980 model, in better shape but still missing some plugs and wires broken. Friend advised me that it was better to get a complete loom so got one from the USA.

Now the problem starts. Left and right hand switch controls were rebuilt, looking nice. Ran the wires down to the loom and yes you all guessed it, plugs are different. So counted the wires and I’m missing wires on the loom left and right hand side. Checked the USA model switches and they are different, Left hand does not have the pass switch, right hand does not have the on off headlight switch. If I replace the plugs on the USA loom to match the left and right hand switches will this make a difference other than the pass and headlight switch not working? Or switches not working at all!!!
Or do I take the time and repair the 1980 loom (more work) or can I simply trace and add wires to the USA loom so the pass and headlight switch work (is this possible)?

Why does Yamaha do this to me!!!!!
I've been riding Yamahas since 1976. Only other bike was a Honda CB900F 1978.
last bike ridden XS1100RH 83 1995 sold the bike to fund an O/S trip. Have a XS1100E for 12 yrs and ready to restore.
