Started my next little project today and that be the home made wire rope tool for lifting the swingarm for the axle to clear the muffler.
I started by splicing a short length of wire rope with an eye at each end, sort of like a minature lifting sling. This was to go around the drive side shock mount to do the same job as the half moon steel bit in the original kit
Plus I had a bundle of these turnbuckle thingos I bought at a field day years ago and had been waiting for a job.
so for a bit of a test run before I made one for the right hand side
So the idea was too take up all the strain and start compressing the shocks and when I ran out of adjustment fit the right hand side one to lift the swingarm even further to give the axle heaps of clearance over the muffler.
I was using a stubby screwdriver in the turnbuckle and it was starting to get pretty heavy to keep turning when I noticed the eyelet on the turn buckle start to spread with the strain
Note the eyelet spread open
So now its back to the drawing board. If I go to a next size up turnbuckle it will be to big to fit in the side cover.
So I've got another Idea that will more closely resemble the original, but with more adjust ment to give the shocks more compression than the original tool
