No worries Ev gotta watch them red win drinkers.....I'm a beer man myself.

Found a just finger tight screw on the Neg battery terminal this arvo. when the major service is finished I'll see if that was the problem when I kick it in the guts for the first time. Fingers crossed

Just watch that Steptoe fella, Jonesey. Heard a rumour that he's always saying to his wife that he's got battery issues, and that his bike was originally white. He's just not a very good shot with a funnel after testing the battery conditioner.
 ;) ;D ;) ;D

Battery should be about 13.6, if it is 12 it needs a charge or replacing
I am trying to get a complete kit of the correct plugs and sockets together so the old ones can be replaced.
These are probably the main cause of electrical problems.

You'd also do well to follow these easy steps to ensure that the juice your battery does supply gets to all the parts it should.

We should all do this once a year IMO.

a super quick fix for the batt is top it up with some elcheapo red wine,, :o

the acid in it will clean the sulfication off the lead and will lead to power flowing thru a lot easier
the other test you can try for cell checking is -- using an old steel coat hanger cut up,, obviously holding the probes, or alligator clips, on the steel wire, #1 start with the + on the + pole and the - in the first cell, should read 2 vlts, #2 pull the - out first then the + off the pole,, #3 place the + in the first cell, -in the second cell, should also read 2 vlts and so on, till the last where the - is on the earth pole and + is in the last cell, if they all read 2 vlts, taint nuthin wrong, if no, throw it

as for the starter,, ever pulled one down?, don't worry,, piece of cake,, mark the sides where the 3 pieces join, so it goes back together the same way,, undo the screws and pull it apart, fair chance the inside is full of black dust,

slide the armature out,, blow that crap out, get a very small pointed screwdriver or such, and clean the grooves in the commutator, {the small end bit} and polish back to a brilliant shine, put it back together, watching the brushes as you do it, and bob should be your auntie

Put a meter across the battery terminals first. If one or more cells are dead then no amount of charging will get you a nice healthy 12.5-12.7 volts.

Q1 Assuming I have a good battery.(been charging for days)
going for a cold start the engine cranks very slow like a flat battery but if you keep the starter button pressed it eventually picks up speed and fires. first press of the button to firing up takes about maybe 10 seconds. Worn starter motor brushes? or something else.
after its all heated up,  say a quick 5min ride. it'll start first hit of the starter
Q2 My headlight is always on (US spec wiring?) even though the switchblock has an off position.
does anyone know a way of diasabling this?
