Title: Leftover rubbers
Post by: Jim on January 28, 2010, 07:30:44 PM
Ok I pulled the head off to replace the gasket and when I cleaned it all up to get it ready for a little paint before putting back on there are 2 little rubber "bungs" (about the size of the end of a bic pen) laying on the ground.... no idea where the.F..... they came from or where they are 'spouse to go. Anyone help? :o

If they look like this
                                    (https://xs1100.com.au/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.benefiscal.co.uk%2Fimages%2FParts%2F1J7-13569-00-00+-1.jpg&hash=ec9682bd94726321c01019628d068991785381d4) (http://www.benefiscal.co.uk/partinfo.php?myid=974)

They are vacuum plugs for the intake spouts on your carb-head rubbers.  Two of the 4 spouts take vacuum to your fuel taps, the other two get plugged.

No don't look like that... more like a solid bung that would fit in the non writing end of a bic pen. As soon as I get this new windows 7 system figured I will post a pic
Got this reply from the Yank site   hir the nail on the head
My best guess is, they're what's called 'absorbers'. Look like black rubber erasers, they fit between the fins of the head. Most of them were lost over the years.
