Title: Au xs1100 T- Shirts
Post by: excess.11 on February 26, 2011, 01:01:49 PM
Recently broached this subject with xtian................soooooooo lets get this ball rolling..
A bit of reverse marketing to start with.First a show of hands on definate purchases and how many each person would like. This will initially help enable obtaining a price with quantitys. Next...............( I said..... carefully opening Pandoras Box) is an input from everyone, who feels like it , regarding colour/style/type of apparel....ie...pyjamas, jocks, silk hankys, cowboy chaps etc you would like to see the logo on.(Only kidding on the ....ie.. bit guys...) Different strokes for different folks as they say......hell.... thats why someone made BMW motorcycles isn t it?
Back on subject.....Chit chat on Logo design....or.....scratch up a pic......take a photo......and post it for all to see.Preference for where..... (front/back/both?) and what.... (Logo/ wording/graphic pic of bike?) is actually put on said t-shirt.Don t be shy guys.i expect this to be a healthy , robust ,debate on what we end up with for the first run of apparel. Sooooo......Seconds....... out of the corner... and...ding the bell.......LETS GET READY TooooOOOO... RUMBLE...( Sorry.i m a UFC Fan)  :P

Jeff,

I'd buy two, black of course, or at least a deep shade of grey.

My preference would be for current Logo (without the ".com.au") across the chest with small XS1100 bike silouette.

Next preference would be Current Logo (without the ".com.au") across the chest and large XS1100 bike silouette on back.

Came across this site........not bad for starters.....
http://www.cafepress.com.au/+vintage-motorcycle-xs1100+t-shirts
http://www.cafepress.com.au/+yamaha_1980_xs1100_motorcycle_white_tshirt,108696343   (click on the back view silouette) I m sure as well as the xs1100 standard we could arrange a silouette of the sport as well.
A couple of thoughts i had ,  with this printer/supplier was to simply supply them with our logo and website details............and then everyone can order their own style size and design of which they can then add our logo (tattoo style on the arm or on the chest or back or both or all) .
Also to have one design as voted on by the forum members as our own , to advertise at meets etc to attract people to our website .
Personal tastes as well as one to advertise our forum can then be catered for.

A graphic silouette on the back with the  catch cry wording underneath of the UFC.
"LET S  GET READY ToooOOOOO......RUMBLLLLE..!!!"        For the Macho members of our group.

OK, I will take 2 , black or a dark colour.
I like the idea of the sticker logo on the front (no .com.au) about the size of the sticker, thats all on the shirt, simple, understated and wearable.
Not into lots of pics etc, besides we all ride different models.BUT, if we had to have a photo or a "negative image, why not use an action 6hr winner shot??(On the back of the shirt)
No offence but the shirts linked above I thought were butt ugly!
Anyway onwards with the conversation!

Looking at it again. It might be good to have mention of Yamaha on it.  More people would know what it was all about then.

Rumble??? sounds more like a HD thing
Most people know what an XS1100 is....don't they  :o

The Germans have a sign on some of their bikes that say's

XS1100 - was sonst?!

translates to

XS1100 - what else?!

Seriously though we have to keep it simple and easy to print (price) I would rather spend the money on good a quality shirt

Thanks blokes all input needed

this is my UK shirt - pretty good I reckon - I like the similar one from .11 (black)
(https://xs1100.com.au/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi578.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fss224%2Faussixs11G%2F03032011849.jpg&hash=a4104e1965bde135d8b7cc29fe70de886e0c2e94)
I agree that the "rumble" motto sounds a little "gay pirate" (=HD rider)
this is the back of our Club Laverda shirts
(https://xs1100.com.au/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi578.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fss224%2Faussixs11G%2F03032011847.jpg&hash=8e2a304ae4eb0fbc19fba1269b1366e9f6da5bcb)
while it fits with CLQ (and is taken) I don't know that it works with us XS11 lot  ;):D :P
Title: Re: Au xs1100 T- Shirts

The motto or saying comes from the UFC/MMA.............definately no gay pirates in that bunch.....and i definately would nt call one of the fighters that to his face....
Anyways......it was never meant as a " Club Design".. (was stated as "my personal preference" )......the arrangements and designs are there as a guideline and " examples "  just to show what the xs1100 logo with or with out any wording of any type and size , pictorially would look like. Brian i like that you ve shown club laverda s wording............. maybe we can have some suggestions from every one........on  what and if any wording would be suitable for us?
Suggestions re Logo placement , size , front or back as well as wording, if any please...... everyone?????

All lookin good Jeff, wish i could do the graphics like that, ( i know about as much about computers as i do about the mind of a woman, every time you think you got them figured out they change)
Perhaps can you slot in the word legend up the top or something like,   " the legendary " or is that goin overboard a bit?
 well they are!!!

Just got this reply from DoDo (Doris) runs the XS group in her area in Germany Jeff note her comment

Hi Chris!

Sorry, I can't write in the forum I forgot my password (if I really signed in at any time???).
But, perhaps, you should tell Jeff the information at the end of my mail.

My favorite for a T-Shirt would be:

Front: small Logo + "Australia" (under the logo)
Back: big Logo + "... what else?" (under the logo)
or
big Logo + the marketing-slogan of Yamaha for the XS1100 in 1978/79: "... something special!" (under the logo)

Colour: Black is great -> but then you should have a white printed field under the other colours of the logo. Makes the colours of the logo more intensive.

Also a good colour for this will be "mottled" (greying, tinked with grey - don't know how this is called in Australia).
It is much better than white and all colours looks good on it.

______
Because Jeff's favorite slogan: "Let's get ready to rumble"
-> That slogan is under copyright/licence of the guy who always shoud this before the fights.
So if you use this slogan you are always in danger that you have to pay lots of money because infringement of this copyright!!!
______

Have a nice day!

Dodo

One thing i m observing from comments and posts , is the passion , and trying to put " that" into a catch cry or statement of where we live and what we ride  that will stir emotion  in owners and others. All of which we would all be proud to wear and show off.
Now , put those thinking caps on guys and gals and plug them into the nearest 240v outlet , throw da switch and lets see wot goes ....bang !!!
 Suggestions Please...!!!!

Each shirt would be printed without the individual names on them to save production costs.
Just front up to an embriodery shop to get your handle put on them

Here s the link for you to order what you like......or create your own T-Shirt or other. All the steps on how to do it are shown on the website.

http://shop.cafepress.com.au/xs1100

Also shows examples....... not that they are to anyones taste in particular........but allows all... to order what you want.....on what you want.
Share your own design on here and it may be just the ticket for others to order the same from Cafepress as well . Not every one is keen on someonelses preference.
Beauty...... definately.... is in the eye of the beholder.
If anyone has already designed and ordered T Shirts or other from this supplier or others.........it would be great to see a pic of  the proud owner wearing or displaying it.Helps to put names to heads on here as well.

Here's my version. I altered the pattern slightly from the original version I bought... but you get the idea where I was headed. Mind you, I did have a problem with the delivery. The first one got lost, and after about ten weeks, I contacted them and they sent me a replacement which arrived in just over two weeks. About a month after that, the original one turned up. Must've gone the long way round, eh?

Here's the pics of my original shirt from Cafepress. When I eventually received it, I was quite disappointed with the placement of the rear printing which is not adjustable in placement on the website designer page. I wanted to have start up somewhere near the stitch seam across the back. Also forgot to put Australia under the front logo but I fixed that omission in the pattern. Maybe an Aussie company could do something along those lines but more suited to our local tastes.
Sorry for the poor pics too. Proper camera battery was flat.

Great looking logo....is it possible to incorporate the transparent black and gold "XS1100" wording as seen on the stickers......... over the map of Australia?
Just to flavour it with the well recognisable yamaha logo and colour.
Title: Re: Au xs1100 T- Shirts
Post by: Christian Raith on February 18, 2012, 10:33:33 AM
The reason for the change is that to do a screen print rather than the iron on plastic patch you can't have transparencies.
Title: Re: Au xs1100 T- Shirts
Post by: excess.11 on February 18, 2012, 10:39:28 AM
With computerised screen printing i would of thought the transparency process and rendering would be generated from the jpeg sample provided ?
May need to contact someone in the industry on that one........... or is that something you already have gotten a definative on Xtian ?
As seen on the back of Ev s t-shirt......when i look at the black and gold.......it straight away screams XS1100. Just my opinion but manufactures colours say a lot about our steeds with out even using words.
I do like the use of a 3D map of the flag flying in the wind.

Finally got My shirt together ::) for some reason I need a collar  :'(so at huge expense I got this guy who does embroidery to make up some Templates and then put them on a shirt and cap I think the  some of the stars could be bigger but what do you all think. I am not sure if we  can use the Yamaha symbol ?? so please let me know. It works out at about $13.00 for the flag and XS1100 put on anything
and the symbol and Xs.com.au $7.50.

I would be interested to know the details of the Yamaha response Hen.

Some here know I have made available (3 years now) an Embroidered Polo shirt for the FJ annual Rally.
It has 2  motorbike designs (Red & white as in early models and blue & white) available publicly that is near identical to the FJ and is on the RH sleeve with Rally year attended, the LH chest with 1984 - 1995 and the two models FJ1100 - FJ1200. I have overcome the copyright prob by not having Yamaha written nor logo`d anywhere, however the Shirt is within a hidden pixel of the white and blue yamaha colours by sheer coincidence.(Blue is only on the collar, sleeve ends and flanks)

Most guys order with their first name on their RH chest and forum name underneath.

The quality is so good, that many have sent them in the post to me to have the latest design extra (red & white bike with 2014 Anniversary Rally to LH sleeve) ...just added to their old shirt. (all sent have been still in perfect condition)

I am adding that embroidered emblem to my dri rider. (Would like to add that excellent Aussie XS logo to it also)
...Incidently, I`m driving the XS outfit to tha celebratory FJ Anniversary Rally. (Jindabyne March 7 & 8 ..all XS guys warmly welcomed)
Note: Those attending from Canada, USA, and UK have had the design sent to their embroiderer for free, so they can wear it on the plane over to here. (Had to be booked into the Banjo Patterson Motor Inn, before I`d send it)

Just ordered another 11 shirts and mine are in for their add on, so can`t wear it to steptoe`s taday for modelling, but shite, I look good in it!  ;D )

Cheers, Doug Mc

Hi all.
Have been in contact with Customer relations @ Yamaha. Its a big NO  :'(  to the tuning fork symbol by it self. They have given me 2 samples of what we could use which they would like to see for approval before we go into production.

According to Yamaha  Marketing department, you can use one of the attached logos (depending on the colour of the shirt) without modification or distortion. The text in the logo must be taller than 7mm and must have an exclusion zone of at least the size of the tuning fork logo all the way around
Further to my previous email, our marketing department have asked if you can supply a proof of the embroidery before going ahead, just so we make sure it is correct.
Market advised to use the 2D reverse logo in white - it does not require the red background - (this is just to show the logo).

So should i get the 2d done in white set up by the guy who did my shirt so it fits on the sleeves with the site address below or any suggestions ?? :-\
