Heinz Wyes Stainless Steel Exhaust System (http://xs11.com.au/Info/Heinz%20Exhaust%20System.pdf)
-
Hi everyone we are trying to work out numbers who want to get one of the Heinz Wyes stainless exhaust systems.
So far 3 blokes want them and the more that are ordered the less they cost.
Last time we ordered 6 sets and a combined money transfer was sent through with no problems using HiFX their rates were very good compared to others and easy to deal through.
The order will probably go in this month so let us know if you are interested. Speak now!!!
You can see the previous post about the exhaust system details or call Mal Pitman ask him what they are like.
I spoke to Heinz and he is happy to make more for Australia :D :D
You can email me c.c.l.raith@gmail.com or Mal Pitman mpi91334@bigpond.net.au

What sort of $$ Christian?

What sort of $$ Christian?
Not sure as the numbers determine the price but I'd say with delivery and GST maybe $1700 or a bit less, just a wild guess. I think from memory the last lot were 950Euro delivered to the door.
-
Hi all, I did reply awhile back about this I still want one system and if it helps to bring the price down I may order two
-
Heard from Heinz, 960Euro and postage.
-
Remember send me, Mal and Heinz an email with Exhaust as the subject.
Mal is keen to get this rolling so actual numbers are what is needed also emails so that Heinz can respond.
System is 960Euro plus postage (which was not too much) and GST at this end.
Anyone doing a full resto or just want their bikes with a factory exhaust this is a must.
Email to these 3 please.

I've indicated my interest for an RH specific system directly to you but will also send an email to the other addresses listed.
GST will be payable on the system cost + shipping charges. I'm guessing around 1100Euro+GST shipped, but will depend on whether the post system is used or a courier. I assume the latter would be preferred, in which case all taxes and any other import charges due will be collected by the courier before delivery
Since the system cost alone is well over the AUD1K 'low value' import limit, duty might also be payable. I'm not sure. Maybe someone that bought a system previously can comment.

Last time they were ordered the total including postage was 995Euro but since then the GST rules have come in.

That's very cheap for shipping this sort of item from Europe :o
I regularly ship parts from a specialist in Germany that charges 40Euro for up to 20kg via DHL who they have a contract with. They aren't registered for GST (yet....) so as long as the value of the goods+shipping is <AUD1K there is no GST. 36Euro for the exhaust would be cheap.....
Once the declared value inc shipping goes over AUD1K, normal GST/duty rules apply and that's always been the same. The GST change in 2018 was only about goods with a declared value <AUD1K.

That was a while ago so may have increased now, I will get onto Heinz and see if he can get an idea of postage.
Also it was through regular post not a courier company.

I heard back from Heinz
"Hello Christian, post coast 110€ heinz"
-
All up that converts to approx $AU 1726 delivered. Not bad, If I had an exhaust that needed replacing I'd go for it. Fortunately for me I don't need one.
-
OFX is showing AUD1760 for Euro1070
......but that's plus GST, of course, and maybe duty. There will almost certainly be processing fees as well. There's a calculator here:
https://www.wwcf.com.au/customs-duty-import-goods-and-service-tax-calculator/
It assumes a 5% duty rate, but that may not be applicable.
There's an explanation here about GST, duty, etc on imported goods valued over $1K
https://www.wwcf.com.au/customs/
.....this particular firm charges $139+GST to do the customs clearance (just a random selection from a quick google search). In theory it's possible to do your own customs clearance but they have moved to an electronic system, which requires registration and in practice things are not so simple.
I'd say you'll be lucky to get away with $2K per system.
There's only 2 ways to avoid these extra charges:
- Heinz supplies an invoice with each system that has a conversion value of less <$1K inc shipping (risky.......)
- Heinz agrees to 'split ship' the exhaust systems, ie 'half' the exhaust is shipped with an invoice for half the value...then the rest of the exhaust is shipped with an invoice for the other half (has other risks......).
....all of which is asking a lot of Heinze + you didn't hear it from me ::) ;D
I did the 'split shipment' thing once for a rare Guzzi exhaust system from the US, so it can be done.
-
For comparison, Tranzac have quoted me $1300 delivered (Melbourne) for a 4->2 system in mild steel, so around $2K for a system in stainless is a good price.

Is this still going ahead ?
Heinz emailed me with some answer to some Q's I had and I've let him know I'm happy to get a system.
The Oz peso has deteriorated against the Euro but not to the extent of the USD.

Hmmm looks like you are the only person who has responded.
Anyone doing a restoration would be nuts not to put one of these systems on their bike....in my opinion and maybe a few others as well.
-
As discussed with Christian off-line, I'm happy to go ahead with the purchase. I wonder if the lock-down in Europe might affect shipping (??)
-
So no body else is interested in Heinz's exhaust system??
-
I'm out
-
I still want one but the Oz peso is all over the shop, although not as volatile against the Euro as the Trump$. As mentioned in the other thread, shipping is an issue at the moment. Might be better to wait. Would Heinz be OK with that ?
I'd be OK with putting a deposit down (10% ??) as a sign of good faith.

He makes them to order so when he gets an order he makes them.

We are waiting for the AU$ to Euro to improve a bit more
Mal Pitman has 3 or 4 who are getting a set
I dealt through HIFX when I got mine and the last lot, they are wasy to deal with and give excellent rates
The system is 1070Euro delivered
Remember this is NOT a replica but an exact as can be copy of the original in SS and because the headers are SS they are not dual layer so breath better.
It heavy duty SS, no ringing like cheaper thin stuff.
Good German engineering.
All hand made so take a while to finish a set so the more ordered means faster turnaround as they can make up a few at a time, only made to order.
I think Heinz has been stung a couple of times.
So because of the turn around the message below may be out of date by the time he is ready to ship them.
Things have gone pear shaped on the parcel delivery front. DHL is the most common ordinary (ie non-courier) parcel delivery service from Germany and they have now temporarily ceased parcel deliveries to Australia. This announcement on their website:
Australia:
Until further notice, merchandise shipments to Australia (DHL Paket International, Päckchen International and Warenpost International) can no longer be accepted due to problems with transport, customs clearance and/or delivery. This acceptance freeze does not affect letter mail items (i.e. documents sent as individual letter mail, kilo-rate mail, etc.).
Courier deliveries via Fedex, UPS, etc are probably still possible but would be prohibitively expensive for something the size of a full exhaust system.

Could all those interested in purchasing the Heinz Wyes stainless exhaust system please give me a call on 0418243503.
I have spoken to Wulf at the workshop in Germany he said even though their work list is full they are happy to work for Australia :-).
Just getting the numbers in so we can let him know
Regards,
Christian (xtian)

I heard from Wulf on Thursday night and he is ready to send a set to Mal Pitman to check.
They have had time problems due to the virus in Germany but are slowly starting to get on top of their workload.
Also Heinz (their Yamaha expert) had health problems and they lost him as he can no longer do any heavy work.
So looking forward things will be on track soon.
