Title: Speedos -GPS
Post by: corko on March 28, 2018, 08:13:40 PM
Hello

My speedo appears to be on way out with only the KM/H dial working (slight bunch).  I called Steptoe while I was at the wreckers in ACT, as you do, and he said a few bikes have moved to a Acewell GPS which I am keen to do.

The ones on line seem to be a little over the top - Looks like dirt bike or a  heart monitor wrapped in Christmas tree lights.

Does anyone have, has seen a basic round face GPS - Speed Dial to 220 - 240KM/H, with basic Trip and Odometer please to slot into current housing?

Photos and brand / model would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to any help.

Work has me away for May rally, but I am trying to get out of it.

Thanks

Corko.

Hi Corko
I had  similar drama with the speedo not being real reliable so I got me a gps speedo  the price has increased a bit since I got mine but it has paid for its self a few times

Corko for about $50 you can get a Sigma brand digital pushbike speedo, with re-settable trip meter (i use it as fuel guage) total kilometers, clock i got them on 2 bikes. I Leave the old non functioning speedo on for authentic look

Corko this is the model I bought a few weeks ago, the other one is very similar and now has about 10,000 kms and a few years on the original battery
Seems I'm no good at links, so punch       SIGMA-BC-5-16     into your search engine. You'll need to be a bit creative to mount the magnet and sensor to the wheel and forks, super glue worked for me.

Corko
As per last nights phone call, pics asked for, pics delivered
1st two photos are the old sigma setup note the speedo needle and you'll see why i got the pushy speedo
Magnet screwed and glued to aluminium plate, speedo attached to handlebars with supplied rubber bands + some double sided tape for extra security

Next two are the newer setup on another bike where the odometer and trip meter stopped working
Smaller supplied magnet removed from original pushy spoke mount and glued to head of brake disc bolt, sensor super glued to fork leg same as above
Speedo double side taped direct to speedo glass, no room with original xs bars
I use my trip meter as a (2nd) fuel guage and the total km for service intervals
