Title: Carb rebuild kits

Hello all,

I was hoping to get some help in being pointed in the right direction with a carb rebuild kit. I'm going to disassemble, clean/blast and reassemble the units. The first step, I assume is to get an appropriate kit. Is there a gold standard in rebuild kits?

Hi Greenie ...welcome to the forum. Generally speaking...carb rebuild kits are found on Ebay ...also use the search function on here for anything relating to carbs that may have been already discussed.
If the bike is not idling as you ve mentioned ...first check vacuum lines are not perished crack...or connected incorrectly. The vac advance should be on the no 2 spigot on the carb body...not the manifold mounting spigot. You may just need to disassemble clean and inspect without parts needed ...to get it running again.

Thanks for the welcome Jeff,

I was actually surprised to see the lines weren't perished, I think the garage it was living in was sealed from the harsh UK winter, and it was indoors the whole time. I had a look around the forum, but didn't find anyone recommending a particular kit. I have seen the eBay ones, I was reluctant to buy them in case they were substandard. I appreciate the help, thanks.

there are 3 kits that fit variuos yrs of the 11's,, 1 for the 81's {tin tops} and 2 sets for the standards
you need to pull the slide needle out and check the number just under the clip rings,
------81 is easily distinguished by the needle and seat having the o-ring

------for the needles with ---- 5z1,------- ky-0526 nr
                                           -----5gz6------- ky 0216
haven,t yet sourced a set for the 81,

available from motorcycle spares wharehouse in Melbourne, these are the kits i use, mainly because they are made in Japan
