Hi all
after recently saving a RH I'm going throught it
one thing needed for rego is a left hand switch block ie missing hi beam toggle
anyway I noticed on Geoff's xs in Sydney he has a switch block for a xs 650 is it possible these are the same switch

Yes.
Also a switch block from an RD 350
There are a couple of these in Canberra at Joes wreckers
-
Tim,
I'll expand on my last.
The switch blocks are identical (almost) in that the High beam selector (the plastic one) that always seems to snap screws out of one and into the other. the XS1100 switch has different plugs so your best bet is to buy one from an XS650/RD350/XS750/XS850 and just switch the switch.
An easy job with a screw driver and some finesse.
Simple No?

Thank Eddy
Tim, ive got the exact same issue with my Repair Handlebar switch model
-
think I may of found a cure for the RH left switch
it may save the drama of disassembling a switch block
let me know what you think

Tim, good 2nd best option, reckon i'd rather do surgery on the genuine high/low beam switch replacement than splice the aftermarket one into the xs harness and fit the bulky individual connectors into the headlight shell.......just my opinion.
-
I'm with Jonesey on this one, Tim. Another thing that is a bit of a concern (for those of us that wear thick gloves in winter) is the light switch which selects High, low and no beam. I can visualise the moment..........
-
It's an easy fix.
Get a donor switch.
Remove the two screws holding your switch to the handlebars.
From the top section remove a couple of screws and take the faun incanted plastic bit out.
From the organ donor, remove the obvious screws from the United faunicated switch and transplant it into your busted one.
Much more simple than cutting and splicing and fucking with the loom.

Hmm, is there a word filter happening?
-
oh you spotted that
-
Has been one since the very early days of the forum.....
-
And here I was thinkin Eddy had copied the Chinese instructions that came with an aftermarket switch. :-\ ;)

This is what I've been using, first one was sun damaged fairly quick but that was when bike was left in sun all day every day. So cheap I didn't mind buying another to spruce it up again. Wired up pretty easy.

I did see this one though if you don't mind the cost.
