Looks like a good day to take over the kitchen table.
These two tutorials are the best I have found, the Carby rebuild has gone missing from the page of the university that posted it. Took me some time to find it. Might have to save the pics and post on xs1100 so they don't get lost.

Have a question already, during the last Carby rebuild I sometimes took the bike for test runs without the air box and it didn't seem to run any different with or without. That was one of the reasons I wondered why pod filters are said to be trouble. These runs were only a k or two down the highway.
Reading this tutorial it states the bike may not run well without the air box. Has me wondering if the jets in my original carbs are already jetted to no air box and I might reuse them.
How can I measure a jet to tell its size?
-
Bretts .......the jets should have a stamped number on them.

Hey Brett
good to see you back from the dark side that is facebook.

Face book posts wift of into the Ethernet over time. Better to come post here when it matters.
Thanks Jeff, I checked the main jet and numbers match the standard kit jet.
Didn't go any further because it got me thinking it might be a good idea to leave the Carby rebuild until the bike is going again. Less to problem solve as I know they run well now.
Spent my time cleaning n polishing the peacocks. Still little more to go on the inside before they go together with new rubbers. Think they came up ok :)
