Title: Steering head bearing
Post by: benno1296 on December 25, 2015, 10:27:20 AM
Just pulled the front shockies off my RH and the top and bottom shocky supports (mounts). Can't separate the bottom steering bearing from the shaft. Anyone have any idea how to do this without damaging anything?

Hey Benno,

Are you talking about the lower steering head bearing on the triple clamp?

The top and bottom bearings are tapered.

I have always had to use screwdrivers to pry the lower case off the stem. No damage to the stem or inner case.  I then always replace the bearings with new.

If you take your old ones to CBC bearings or a bearing shop you will get the correct ones fo a fraction of the price of the ebay ones above.

Hope this helps

Eddy
