Hi all. Last night having lots of fun replacing oil filter (not)!
First issue is that bike has after market oil cooler on it, which I think is a good idea for oz. The adapter manifold covers where the oil filter housing would usually fit thus making the tabs on the oil filter housing obselete. I assume those tabs should have pointed to the front of the bike? I don't think it really matters but best practice and all that.
Now for the curly one, the o-ring for the filter housing. The old one was soft, and new filter came with new o-ring, problem is, that one has sat twisted in the box for who knows how long and I can't tame it enough to sit in the groove of the housing to re attach. So question. Is there a gasket goo I can smear on housing to stick the little Bugger down long enough to refit the filter? Rtv silicone? Grease maybe? Any suggestions would be appreciated. The adapter for a new style screw on oil filter is looking really good at the moment but I don't know how that would work with oil cooler.
Thanks in advance and have a great weekend.
David.

Have you tried sitting them in boiled water ?

Thanks all. Got it on. Stuck down with Vaseline which I'm assured even if a tiny bit gets in the oil just dissipates.
I put the tabs to the front but as I say, with the cooler manifold I don't think it matters. Does the screw in filter end up housed in the oil filter housing?
