Why don't we all chip in some dollars and buy this one and start building up a supply of parts for the future? You never know, this type of stuff could get someone out of trouble down the track, instead of always going overseas for bits & pieces.
Cheers
-
That is an XSellent idea.
Who is close enough to do a pickup?
-
good idea Paul, any idea how the parts bank would operate?
-
A good idea count me in location of storage shed ?
-
If we were going to consider this idea and go forward with this bike and possibly others that will pop up in the future, we need to have a plan.
A. Who is prepared to put up the initial money to make the purchase?
B. Where would the parts be stored?
C. Do we break down the bike/s into their various components and list what's available and grade the quality of those components or do we leave them as is?
D. If we break them down, who is prepared to do it and also then list the bits on the forum so we all know what's there?
E. Regardless of whether the bike/s are broken down or not, who sets the price and organises the means to deliver them?
F. If this idea gets off the ground we could eventually make a profit on the original purchase, then what do we do? Do the original members who contributed get their money back or do we build up a kitty for future bargains? Maybe we could consider donations to charities.
I may have opened up a can of worms here but I still think it's worth considering and discussing the matter further. I for one would be willing to toss in some money to get it going. This one starts at $200, if ten of us threw in $50 each we could be in with a good chance.
I'll leave it there for now, to see what others think.
Cheers Paul

Jonesy, to answer your question, I'm not sure how the parts bank would operate specifically but if we get enough discussion, maybe we can come up with a workable solution.
Cheers Paul

I thought we already had people who store an d keep parts for years to come......as well as break down bikes a d organise delivery and actually made money out of said dealings and I m sure put that money to good use......its called....."Ebay".
-
Hey Paul,
I think Jeff is probly right, many of us here have likely acquired a parts bike or two and are willing to help out with parts amongst ourselves.
Purchasing a "community bike" would be difficult to administer and too much like business and committment.
either of which can go wrong and get complicated...........
-
The CBX Club gave it away as a going concern because of the reasons Jonesy set out
-
I,ll buy it and it can stay here for bits,
-
It has standard 78 frame & a 5N5 RH donk
-
If someone buys this bike I'll buy the speedo off them as Ive mentioned in "bits wanted" column Coops
