Hi Everyone

I agree with Jonesy, it is a little quiet at the moment on the forum.

Four of us in Adelaide caught up for a coffee last Sat morn, Greg about to go overseas for a holiday this week and hopefully will send us some pics.  Andrew currently working on fitting a side-car to his bike, Coop was there, also without a bike as none are registered during winter.  I turned up on my bike and was glad for an excuse to go out for a ride, I've been focused on getting mobile home ready as well as having less time now I'm back at work, (work really gets in the way eh?)

Mal couldn't make it as he was in Perth helping some racing teams get themselves up to speed, so to speak, hopefully we'll hear more about that later.

Cheers for now

Hey guys and gals. Not sure what your winters are like down there, but here that is the time to be asking questions and be fixing stuff. Our summers are far too short and we need the time to ride! Of course testing and final tuning by riding is the final answer so that must come in during the riding months as well. I have not been checking in as often as I would like as summer is our busy season (I drive a concrete mixer).
Many times the north american site is over run with questions during the spring and early riding season.  :o  Why wait till then to fix a bike is what I wonder. Use the off season to your advantage and enjoy the ride. Hope you are all doing well and your projects are on track.

Its happening again....must be the winter chill sending everyone underground. or post rally overload?

taking the historic plated bike for rego inspection this saturday. when doing my own pre-inspection i found a minor glitch, no front park light. quick clean up of bulb socket with steel wool and ready to go. A couple of weeks ago I opened the shed and immediately noticed petrol fumes. sussed out the RH underside of tank and tap were wet with fuel. ah great immediate thought was for the worst case scenarion......rusted tank, but to my relief only a perished O ring/gasket between tank and tap.

what XS things have you been up to?

have been 3 very full weeks at work, 5 and 6 14 hr days, this week is another 24 hr break before a 3 day trip up to Darwin for 2 hrs and then home again,
tinkering with floodies carbs, {this will go in it,s rightfull spot}, with another quick video to come.
I dissappear mostly because I have no service when it comes time to pull up for the night, up at 5 and turn the key off at 10 doesn,t leave to much reading time either

hmmm are XS's telaphathic  was reading earlier posts about puddles of fuel being under /on said bikes ,the temp did drop a bit last night  this morning I thought I was getting a wiff of petrol fumes  this arvo and on closer inspection theres puddle under the side car tank. I'm thinking the seem has finaly failed and the cool change helped it to contract and weaken

found source of odorous fumes the micro filter on the extrernal tank had a crack in it when sitting for awhile drips ever so slowly oddly enough I think this was the reason for the same puddle at the rally

XS ran perfect
17km's/ litre,
Got to 310kms and put 18 litres in and still not on reserve from a sidestand fill.
Theoretically that should be 340km to reserve and 408km to parked on the side of the road with your thumb out
Had a feel of the new rear spoked hub when I pulled up and it was luke warm so that tells me all is well with bearings, spacers and seals.
