Title: reserve lighting unit
Post by: Jonesy on February 19, 2013, 08:13:09 PM
will my bike run alright if I remove the unit? I really couldn't care if the idiot light works or not, and, if I cant see anything at night when my high or low beam gives out, being the fully switched on type of bloke I am I reckon I'd switch the selector to the other position so I got light again. or does the RLU function go deeper than that. I know I could just pull it out and see but I reckon there's probly someone out there who just knows that shit

Hi Paul,
You can't just remove the unit, as the lights won't work. The easiest way around it is to locate a replacement connector for the RLU plug (maybe you might have a spare old RLU laying around  ;)) and simply Jumper the blue/black and blue/yellow together at the RLU plug, leaving the others disconnected. This will provide straight power to the headlight etc. and you will have to actually select the other beam in case a filament in the headlight burns out on you.
