Good morning AUSTRALIA and fellow XSer's question is when i leave the bike for a few days and then start it it blows a puff of blue smoke.( not at full throttle and compression is good ) does fuel leak from the carbys into the cylinders on these bikes like a car would. thanks john..

It can do if the floats aren't at the right height. Be careful of that because it will thin your oil and result in excess wear.
Float height on these carbs seems to be critical to attaining 100% performance. Well worth reading thru this post on the UK site for some clues and great ideas as how to best approach setting them ....

Could also be a little bit of oil getting past the valve stem seals until the bike warms up a bit.
Do you keep it on the centrestand or sidetand?

blue smoke usually indicates oil burning,
black smoke is fuel related,
as melbxs said, oil seeps past the valve guide stem seals
whilst its sitting, i wouldnt worry about it too much if the
bike is otherwise running well.
