Need help with a nice pair of chrome rear shocks brought on E-Bay. Seller had them listed for the XS1100E. Problem is the bushing is too small to fit on the frame. Is it possible to drill out the rubber bushing and insert another metal sleeve??? Or is there another way to make them fit.

I've used a vice and a combination of spacers and washers to press the insert and the rubber out of the lower mount hole on a pair of GPZ1100 shocks I had on my first E model. Just reverse the process to refit it after applying some glue on the outer rubber bush so it won't move around after fitting it.

Let me rephrase that statement, please. I just went out and found what's needed to do the job.

Ingredients: I piece of brooker rod ( or a long bolt), 2 nuts, 3 washers and 1/2" and 1" sockets.
Make sure the washer that goes in between the 1/2" socket and the insert is small enough to fit through the eye as it is tapered. Needs about 1/8th" clearance

Put in vise and wind 1/2" socket & washer into the eye of the shock -

...... and into the 1" socket recess. Undo the nut and pop the bush and insert out onto the bench.

Do the same to the donor shock and you've got both bushes out. You may want to substitute a large washer for the 1/2" socket for reassemby as it will give a more even pressure across both the sleeve and bush and might make it easier to keep it aligned as it goes in. Apply some glue to the rubber bush when you start to press it back in to prevent it moving when in use

Alternatively, just use 2 sockets and your vise to push the bush out. Dont need the threaded rod that way.

any1 know where to buy the new rubber bushes from?

YSS would have them.
