Except here in Tassie.....the highways are crap and all the second roads are motorcycle heaven...probably because of all the logs trucks on the highways.... :D

... In reality it would all be so pointless though,  the highways down here are just crawling with cops, mufti-cars and speed cameras, 140kph and loss of license there and then..   The only roads these days where you can truly RIDE your motorbike are the secondary roads, the backroads,  inevitably  bumpy and twisty.

I totally agree with you here, but from my experiences of driving round Aus I think they have it tougher over there. The fines are bigger, the demerits are bigger (and they have less) and penalties are tougher. And they have double demerits on long weekends and such.
My 11's more than enough for me, and I cant ride a space rocket doubled up like a half shut pocket knife for anymore than an hour anyway. Friend of mine has an old Mk5 Guzzi Le Mans that i ride occassionally, but after an hour on that I can barely walk for the next hour.

If I was going for one of the warpdrive bikes,  and was cool with $420 a pop rear tyres that need constant changing, a black or blue 12R would be my choice, they're a million times sexier than a busa,  and the ZX14's are pig ugly and bland to look at too.

Reality is most of the time the old eleven is more than a handful, most of the time here you won't even be able to use 75% of it's real potential,  so with one of the warpdrive machines- well,  sh!t, except for the longer straighter roads, you're barely able to use even a fraction of their true performance, and even then just for fleeting seconds.

The other good thing about the old naked musclebikes are they're suited nicely to cruise along at legal speeds out on the highway and there's always power and torque right there all the time at any speed, in any road conditions.  Your usual faired hyperbike is an infuriating exercise in frustration 90% of the time, like a cage of angry lions,  it's so tempting to get their engine howling and up on song, but hehe,  do it at your own peril.  There's always a big bunch of bikers down here at any time who are beating their feet or waiting at bus-stops

Nothin wrong with the green.......Had a z650, z750 x3, GpZ750, Z1R MK2, ZX9r x2, GpZ250.....and no bad experiences with any (except triple clamp failure around a corner on the 650 resulting in a high side of undie staining proportions) but that was due to P.O not telling me he stacked it...not the bikes fault.....I also love the Modern Eddie reps.....mmmmm....one will come up cheap one day....... :D

Hey Chris,
We went looking for you at the VJMC stand at the show. Apparently you were out checking out the displays so we musta crossed paths all day. Did you get that XS going that you were working on?? Maybe we could 4 together next year, eh??

I was actually at the stand more than I was away. Not fixed the XS up yet, will be pulling the carbs off again tomorrow, pretty sure the problem is there, the electronic ignition is working ok and advancing,  the vacumn to the carbs is working etc but it still loses LOTS of power under load, could be coils I guess too.....

Geez guys - I dunno about that - you tried the Suzuki 1400 or the B-King - or the Kwaka ZRX12 (I wrote one of those off...another story)  shiz.... they are all frelling great.... :o ;D :P

a mate has a suz 1400, had a long ride on it, tons of grunt but the appeal ends there, I think they are really ugly fat bikes, same with the xjr1300's , don't know about a b-king, I like the retro 1200 kawa, in green of course:-), wouldn't mind putting the motor in my GPZ.

no argument form me on that,  there are not many modern bikes I would consider buying no matter how much better they handle and stop etc. God I'm old:-)

did anyone check out any of the linked tubes, a ZX-6 made the same HP, 500cc less and half the weight.

Hey Bryan, did any Laverda's go on the dyno, I'm guessing not, they would explode:-)

I've had a go on a 100+hp R6 and can tell you the 600cc rockets and the old air-cooled musclebikes are 2 entirely different rides,   the 100hp XS11 is the powerful stomping beast,  the plastic 100hp 600 is the screaming speed demon
