Sounds about right, didn't measure either but it seemed reasonable. Just glad it will work once the part (ordered) arrives. I'll check when I put it on.

With the way it worked at least they will not be still flashing a klm down the road.

Swapped the wires in the block connector and put on the right flasher can from Eddy and all was working. Am ordering the can you recommended.

Thanks to all, especially Jeff and Eddy.

Thanks for your help.

Can't see Eddy until weekend of the 10th so it'll go a bit quiet until then.

Thx Andy.....borrow a known working self cancelling OEM flasher and run a test.
It would nt hurt to borrow/steal the wife s nail emery file and polish the pins in the wiring harness connector....they tend to tarnish up....and it s not easy to see.

I don't know the possible implications of all that data. Does it mean it may have buggered something else up? Will swapping out the wires so that they match on the male and female sides of the connector still bring about the desired outcome given everything else is functioning as it should?

Further testing shows....
Original FCU (correctly pinned) RH Pic .
1.1K ohms W/G to W/R
4.27K ohms W/G to Y/R
5.36K ohms W/R to Y/R

Spare NOS FCU (incorrectly pinned) LH Pic
1.149K ohms W/G to W/R
4.3K ohms W/G to Y/R
0 ohms      W/R to Y/R

Given that the W/G in the harness is supplying a ground pulse via the speedo reed switch to the FCU , there is concern over what the W/G is actually grounding when connected to the incorrectly pinned W/R on the NOS unit.

Regarding wiring colour coding and pin assignment on the flasher cancelling unit.
NOTE....there ARE 5 WIRES INTO THE CONNECTOR ON THE HARNESS.
There are 6 WIRES CONFIGURED INTO THE CONNECTOR FROM THE FCU.
There appears to be units out there that don t conform to the wiring harness connector.
In particular...the W/G on the lower left position ...as you look into the wiring harness connector .
As an original owner I can vouch for the original FCU and the W/G matches colour....AND...position to the wiring harness.

I also have a new spare unit that has the W/G and a W/R interchanged on the FCU plug.
This results in the (harness)W/G going to a (FCU) W/R .
It may be an incorrect pin assignment (crossed wiring)....OR.....it may be incorrect colour assignment but still functional.
It may also be a unit suited to a different model and wiring harness.
I ll carry out further tests to confirm.
Note....the W/G supplies a pulse count to the FCU from the speedo reed switch ...which accommodates the "DISTANCE" data to the FCU and works in conjuction with the timing component.

Xtian....incorrect...the distance and time features for cancelling are clearly discussed in the pages of the manual i posted in this thread.
See previous pages of manual i posted....first paragraph.

Right, like I said memory (not the best lately) Guess I've not waited the 10 seconds too often :-)

I've got all LED units so cancel unit doesn't work....yet....still getting up the incentive to work on it.

Andy, mate, at the end of the day we wont think any less of your xs if it doesnt have self canselling blinkers  ;D
Like i said earlier they (self cansel blinkers) arent that good anyway, especially when they self cansel before the turn has even been made or sitting at an intersection and they stop before a gap in traffic lets you make your move

The Yamaha unit works on distance not time so it cancels after about 100 odd metre's from memory???

Jonesy..your experience tells me you had maintainence issues......follow the fault finding guide to correct . Or...if not interested in repairs...disconnect as in your case.
They DO work well and as intended.
How many times in cars have people reset indicators due to straightening up the steering and cancelling...then had to reset operation.
