Found out (thanks to my boss) that the finish for the footrest hangers which is a flat but not a polished finish is the result of cleaning using a very fine glass media blast (leaves a slightly porous matt surface) - then between 1/2hour and one hour in a media 'rumbler' which tumbles the work piece in ceramic cones - this has the effect of sealing the blasted surface and leaves it with a dull flat and not quite shiny finish similar to the factory finish - very satisfactory - Kev

Latest shiny bits
The pic of the Laser tailpipe from my last post was a find on ebay - I've been searching for one of these to replace the one I had on the XS when I first owned it - it was (and I make no apology for this next statement) one of the key selling points for me when I first looked at buying the bike in 1985 - I don't like cans and massive silencers - my idea of motorcycling hell is those massive units they fit to modern machines - and I know all the arguments about back pressure , fuel consumption , excessive noise , pollution etc.. - guess we're all different in what we like - regards Kev

Latest piece - Clocks Bracket - foolishly I decided to have a look at the clocks and found the bracket distorted from some previous spill - straightened out the bent section and so had to clean it up and repaint the part

Yes please - that would be great - when I took these apart I didn't have my smart phone so used an old Doro phone - the picture quality (no detail) would be better if I drew it and coloured it in myself
so only took pics of one side and thats the right hand cluster which I've already assembled without needing reference - many thanks - Kev ps how is Christian now ??
