Hi all

I am 26 and Im from Syndey, recently purchased an XS1100 off the trading post and this is my first one. I have had 4 bikes in my time and 2 have been modern sports bikes (Aprillia RS125 and Ninja ZX636) and the more recent have been 1970's superbikes. Previously i owned a 1975 Honda CB750 that i bought unregistered and i cleaned it up and sold it. I immediately regretted it as i reckon a love grew for it over the short time i had it. I started looking into classics and superbikes of that era and yea ive come to appreciate old bikes.

Anyway, since my regret of the Honda, i immediately set out searching for a replacement CB. Until i randomly came across the XS11 through trading post, i initially thought the 1100 would be far too big and heavy for me (im about 5 8" and approx 70kg so im not a big bloke by any means) but i went to have a look at it anyways. And yes it is far larger than a CB750, but i thought the price was right, the bike was in fairly decent condition (old mate kept it on the road, registered and relatively maintained) so i bought it. I knew nothing about the XS but ive had it for few months now and ive spent quite alot of time fixing/cleaning it up and doing some research.

The bike is in completly stock original as far as i know, it is a maroon 1978 XS1100E, i still have a bit to go getting some rust off but i think it has come a long way. Its got a healthy strong motor, could do with a carb tune but goes well. I will put up some pics soon

Im contemplating wether or not i should start changing some parts to make it more of a cafe racer, or keep it original. I think it would be pretty unique cause normally cafes are based off smaller bikes eg SR400, W650 CB750 and under etc. but to see an 1100 as a cafe would just be cool.

what do you think?
