Thanks very much for the offer, but
Hang onto your spares until a real emergency arises mate,

Delved into the carbys, got some new float valves and seats on order.
While waiting for them to show up i did some float post repairs, my mechanic didnt tread lightly when stripping carbs  :-X
Repair mark 1 was not really a long term fix and was still a bit loose

So i went in boots n all and started by cutting the post down in prep to do a screw in post replacement. Here lining up where to drill hole for float pin

Some more fine tuning required, not quite level

Hey Jonesy mate. You definately have Carb probs. Coupla years back I ran out of motion lotion--maybe sucked all the crap out of the tank?. Filled up , back on normal but then pissing fuel out airbox. Ran like shit for ages. You should give carbs a total overhaul. Good luck with the old girl. :D

If you haven't already done so....replace the needle and seat -
it yours are rubber tipped, they develop a witness which I reckon leads to the prob you are experiencing
have a close look at this - old vs new

I often had that with the old carbies. I put it down to sticky needle n seat but not sure.
I found a very predictable pattern. I often forgot to turn the fuel taps on and start to run out of fuel down the road. Even when I turned them back on it would keep running like crap then eventually carbies would flood overflowing fuel. Some times I had to give the carbies a tap but eventually it would stop and run fine again.
I found it only happened when I ran out of fuel or left taps in off position. I figured carbies got dry and stuck.
Sounds very similar to your issue.

Well, the honeymoonis over.
Pulled the old girl out of the shed for a quick run in to town,  running rough on full choke, back to half choke not much better, move taps to reserve, no better, prime, still rough, motor stalled on idle. Felt the header pipes, 1& 2 cold, 3 & 4 spit sizzle hot, ok not coils. Then fuel started dripping from the air box, hmm i wonder what it could be? Sat for a couple of weeks since last used with no leaks is the frustrating bit.

Nice looking bike. But if you had gotten a RH in the first place you would have already had a really fast, black AWESOME looking beast and saved some money.....HA, HA.

Happy to hear Jonesy!. :D. You must have got club rego?. Be keen to see pics of anything you do to old ''000337''...( from memory---- I dont have the records any more). On other non XS1100 news im still looking at a 2005 Kawasaki ZX12R Ninja from Smelbourne. Price is good---its unreg and needs RWC , also found a cheap transport back to Sydney for bike. Would post pic of bike but this Photo thingy is too hard. Just picture a black immaculate ZX12R with 55k.  :-X :D
